WELCOME!

Barnes Common offers over 100 acres (50 Ha) of valuable Metropolitan Open Land. It is one of the largest areas of unenclosed common land so close to the centre of London, and is a designated Local Nature reserve.

Owned by the Church since the Middle Ages, the Common is managed by the Local Authority (Richmond-upon-Thames), which is advised and assisted by the Friends of Barnes Common.

FOBC organises volunteer work on the Common, campaigns on issues which affect it and seeks to enhance the biodiversity and amenity value for everyone's benefit. None of this just happens — we need your help!

Membership is open to all: your involvement will help us to preserve the Common for future generations to enjoy as we do.

The Friends of Barnes Common is a not-for-profit organisation affiliated to the Barnes Community Association and associated with the Richmond Environment Network.
