Community BlueScapes is delighted to invite volunteers to become Gully Guardians.
The London Borough of Richmond-upon-Thames’ Highways Department are working to clear and improve the drainage network in the area. You can help identify the streets where this is needed, as a member of the community.
This programme has been designed to enable the community to actively monitor the flood risk of their area. By regularly checking the condition of the drains and reporting blockages, volunteers will aid the reduction of flood risk and increase flood resilience.
Join us on the 15th of March, between 12 noon and 2pm for our first Gully Guardian induction. The session will take place at Vine Road Rec. and drinks and biscuits will be provided.
Please dress suitably for the weather. We will likely be outside the whole time and for part of the session, we will leave the Rec. to look at a number of drains in various conditions, so as to get a feel of what to look for.
We welcome people ages 16 and up.
All equipment will be supplied. Meet us at the Pavilion on Vine Road Rec.
REGISTRATION:
We welcome everyone at this volunteering session. Please note, to take part, you need to fill in our volunteer registration form to make sure our insurance covers you.
If you are a regular volunteer and have already filled in the form, there is no need to do this again.
