This programme offers hands-on work-based learning and life skill opportunities to schools and community groups.

Paddock Secondary School in Wandsworth caters for students with complex learning needs. We are delighted to be working with the school to offer work-based learning and life skill opportunities at Vine Road Park.

Watering young plants in the polytunnelPaddock Gardeners: Working with Sharon and Paddock staff, post-16 students interested in gardening and growing food have chance gain horticultural work experience and learn about sowing, growing, watering and weeding. And of course, don’t be surprised if some of our freshly harvested produce finds its way over to the other Paddock enterprise …..

Paddock Pop-up Cafe: Since 2018, this popular and lively addition to the Vine Park community has run on Wednesdays during term time. In the past students travelled to the local community centre and helped prepare harvest for the RHS Big Soup Share. Currently suspended.

The pop up café has given pupils at Paddock School a unique opportunity to generalise skills they have learnt in our own school café in a different setting. Pupils involved have gained confidence in communicating and developing relationships with new customers, organising and setting up a new environment and handling money without an adapted till.  The most significant impact is that we feel a much greater part of the Barnes Community and in turn they have an increased understanding of our students strengths and needs.
