Working With Young People

In 2022 we have been working with the young people from the Mortlake Power Station Youth Centre. We participated in their Summer Fuel program inviting groups of young people for sessions in the growing area, where they learned to build growing beds from scratch using recycled wood. They returned to paint, fill the beds with soil and plant seeds. Later they came to help with a litter pick. We hope to build on this special relationship, extending educational engagement with young people through dedicated sessions. We are collaborating in developing themes for sessions, to include practical learning about day-to-day seasonal food growing, cooking together from the harvest, engaging with topics, wellbeing through nature, related career avenues, value of biodiversity for food cultivation.

We hope to extend our program to other groups, including schools in the coming year.
