You can book all our workshops on Eventbrite.

1. Getting started with growing

There is a dizzying array of information available these days about how to grow, and when you’re starting out, it can all feel a bit overwhelming. In this workshop, we give you a few simple pointers about how to get started. We look at what equipment you’ll need, how to understand the conditions in your growing space and how to make a planting plan. We  also give you some useful tips on how to design a space.

2. Growing with Nature

Permaculture, regenerative growing, agro-ecology; what does it all mean? There are lots of different terms used to describe sustainable growing, and in this workshop, we will attempt to demystify some of these approaches. We will also look at how to work with nature to make the most of your growing space. This will include understanding light levels and terms such as ‘part shade’ and ‘full shade’, how to be ‘water-wise’, and how to create wildlife habitat in your growing area.

The resource sheet will be added here after the March workshop.

3. Plants for free

These days, we tend to see plants and seeds as something we buy, rather than something we grow. Seed and plant production has been commercialised, and plants can be costly. However, plants we have raised ourselves, that are adapted to local conditions, are often more successful than those we buy. There are lots of different propagation methods, and it’s easy to get lots more plants without spending any money at all! In this workshop, we will cover seed sowing, seed saving, taking cuttings, layering, dividing and more!

The resource sheet will be added here after the April workshop.

4. Growing in small spaces

The reality of living in an urban area is that many of us do not have access to a large growing space. You might have a balcony, a few containers or even just a windowsill. You might be renting and need to create a garden you can easily dismantle and move. But you can grow something in almost any situation. In this workshop, we will look at tips for growing successfully in these spaces, what plants work well and how you can grow your own food even if you only have a windowsill!

The resource sheet will be added here after the May workshop.
