What a year!
Much has been achieved in 2021 despite Covid. Highlights include the successful community funding, matched generously by the London Mayor; award of Green Flag status for the park; the success of the pop-up café; installation of new seats and planters; great on-going work by the community growing project; preparation of the Master Plan proposal; and, topping all of this, strong community support for the project during and since the public consultation in the summer. The plans have been submitted to the Parks team at Richmond Council, and we understand they will be considered by the Environment Committee in January.
If things have seemed a little quieter since, that is partly the natural autumnal reduction in park activity and partly that we are waiting for the Council’s decision. If they approve the plans in principle then we will have a busy 2022, and we have been getting ready for that behind the scenes.
However, as the year draws to a close, can we thank everyone for their support and contributions. We are so grateful to be part of such a wonderful community. Vine Road Park is such a valuable asset. We look forward to working with all of you in the New Year to make it even better for the whole community.
