Blue habitats are brilliant at increasing wellbeing. Come and take a moment to sit in silence, have a cuppa, or have a chat by the brook.

This year, World Wetlands Day (2nd February) focuses on Wetlands and Wellbeing. Wetlands and blue habitats are brilliant at increasing wellbeing and calming the mind.

Community Bluescapes is running the Calm Water Café, where you can take a moment and come to sit in silence, have a cup of coffee or tea on us, or have a chat next to the Beverley Brook.

The Calm Water Café will be open on Friday 2nd February between the Beverley Brook and the reedbed on Maisie's Meadow on Barnes Common. We’ll have information on nature and wellbeing, as well as local outdoor volunteering opportunities that will really boost wellbeing.

We will also be sharing local volunteering opportunities and activities that’ll help you connect with nature and get outdoors. Look for the gazebo at what3words: ///dangerously.mash.crisis or on google maps at https://maps.app.goo.gl/5EEXoEoRXfEpH7w36.

This is a drop in event so no need to book, just come along.

To help us with preparing for the event, we'd appreciate if you let us know you are coming - just click to register on this page.

Communities have the power to tackle climate change and make our neighbourhoods better places to live in now. Community BlueScapes is all about giving local people power to prepare for extreme weather events like flooding and restoring a more natural environment.

Community BlueScapes is a partnership between Barnes Common Limited, the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust and London Borough of Richmond upon Thames.

Sign up to the Community BlueScapes mailing list to find out more about Community BlueScapes, how you can get involved and keep up to date with the latest stories, news and events.

Our project is run by Barnes Common Limited, the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust and London Borough of Richmond upon Thames. We have been awarded £6 million of funding by Defra as part of the £200 million Flood and Coastal Innovation Programmes which is managed by the Environment Agency. The programmes will drive innovation in flood and coastal resilience and adaptation to a changing climate.
