You are invited to join our free monthly training sessions to learn more about growing food in harmony with nature. The sessions will introduce you to seasonal topics such as seed sowing, looking after seedlings, and seed saving. We will also introduce the approaches to growing food that are used at the Vine Road Community Growing Project, such as managing soil health through no-dig, composting and water-wise gardening. The sessions provide a practical and supportive way to build skills and confidence in growing your own food. Come and get your hands dirty!
Sessions run at our polytunnel at Vine Road Park every 3rd Saturday of the month from 10am to midday (see exceptions on the calendar), with a new topic each month.
April 15th: Caring for Seedlings and Transplanting
This month we will look at how to raise strong seedlings and how to know when they are ready to transplant into outdoor beds and containers. You will learn practical techniques for moving seedlings, as well as considering suitable growing conditions and ways to protect fragile young plants.
