Summer Talks: Butterfly Gardening

6:30pm, Wednesday July 24th, 2024

The Polytunnel at Vine Road Recreation Ground, SW13 0NE

Join us for an informative discussion on butterfly-friendly gardening by Karen Goldie-Morrison.

Join us for our July session in our Summer Talks series offering talks on nature, growing and ecology. At this free talk, we are delighted to welcome Karen Goldie-Morrison, who is a long-standing Barnes Common Friend.

Karen has always had a strong personal interest in butterflies and their conservation. She was Chair of Council at Butterfly Conservation for four years (2019-2023) and continues as a volunteer for the charity. She has been the lead volunteer butterfly transect monitor on Barnes Common since 2016. There are now three transects walked in Barnes by a team of 6 volunteers who have recorded 30 species of butterfly over the period.

This talk will take place in the polytunnel in our growing area at Vine Road Rec. Hot drinks can be purchased from the Vine Road Community Café in the Pavilion with a 50% discount for attendees.

To keep up to date with all our events, conservation work and more, become a Barnes Common Friend!

Our Summer Talks are funded by a Climate Action microgrant provided by the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames.
