Introducing our brand new Eco-Explorers Summer Camp

This summer, sign up for our brand new Eco-Explorers Summer Camp for 10-14 year olds.

We are holding our first, 5-day Eco-Explorers Summer Camp for children aged 10-14 years this July! Children will spend their week learning how to identify, record and understand wildlife on Barnes Common.

Our Eco-Explorers Summer Camp will run for 1 week from Monday 24/07/23 to Friday 28/07/23. Young people aged 10-14 will learn how to identify, record and understand wildlife around them. Building skills throughout the week, they will also take part in practical conservation activities and also plan and deliver an activity for the public.

Day 1 – Investigating plants. A closer look at the trees and other plants around the Common.

Day 2 – Navigating and wayfinding. Understanding how to navigate around open spaces and safely explore.

Day 3 – Investigating invertebrates. Compare the wildlife living in different habitats.

Day 4 – Conservation activities. Assist with practical habitat management activities.

Day 5 – Sharing skills and knowledge. Learn how to use art and creative skills to engage the community around us with nature.

The day will run from 09.30 to 15.00, with opportunities for breaks and socialising. Young people aged 10-14 will work in groups and individually at times and develop their confidence and social and interpersonal skills. All activities will be led by our Education and Outdoor Learning Officer and our team of skilled volunteers. Spaces are limited, with concessions available for anyone entitled to Free School Meals.

Ticket pricing:

General admission: £100 for 5 days including all above activities for children aged 10-14 years.

Concessions for students eligible for Free School Meals or Pupil Premium grant: £0 (limited spaces)
