Team

Will Dartnell is our Conservation Manager. He is responsible for overseeing the conservation and stewardship of Barnes Common and Leg o’ Mutton local nature reserves. Will joined BCL in 2017.

Will Scott-Mends is our Senior Conservation Officer and assists Will in all areas of conservation work. He also shares updates about conservation work via the Barnes Common instagram page. Will  joined BCL in 2019.

Jackie Marie is our Business Operations Manager. She is responsible for overseeing the development of our projects and coordinating our communication network. She has many years of experience in the voluntary sector and is passionate about giving back! During her leisure time, she can often be found rowing on the river Thames. Jackie joined BCL in 2020.

Bori Kiss joined BCL in 2021 and she is BCL’s Communications Officer. Her background is in journalism and digital media with a focus on science communication. She is responsible for updating this website, sharing our news and events on our social media platforms, and sending out our monthly newsletter. In her free time she likes going on long walks and collecting plant IDs.

Paddy Hayes joined BCL in 2021 and is taking on BCL’s educational remit as our Education and Lifelong Learning Manager. This will focus particularly on Outdoor Learning, which we hope will provide a really exciting way of engaging with all ages of the local community and help to promote what BCL does. Paddy currently works two days a week with his remaining time spent at the Creekside Discovery Centre at Deptford where he is often to be found ‘mudlarking’!

Frances (Frankie) Doorgachurn as the administrator for the Community BlueScapes project, where BCL is a partner alongside WWT and Richmond Council. She has recently taken on the role of Volunteer Coordinator for Barnes Common. Frankie has lots of experience in management and HR. Frankie has a busy family life and loves her time in the office!

Nicky Buley joined the BCL team in 2023 as part time Project Coordinator for our Community Growing Project. Nicky has a background in horticulture and permaculture design. She is also experienced in delivering learning sessions and passionate about sustainability and the environment. When she is not at work, you might find her wild swimming – all year round!

Francesca Jarrett joined us in 2023 as Conservation Assistant to support the Wills with all aspects of conservation across all our sites. Fran is a recent graduate with a degree in Conservation, she also has experience working in nature education. She likes to go out for walks, and enjoys photography.

Samara Doyle joined us in October 2024 as Conservation Assistant. Previously she has been an apprentice at Kew Gardens with the arboretum team. She has experience working on ancient and veteran trees.

Shomari Rosalska joined BCL in April 2024 as BCL’s Project Co-ordinator for the Community BlueScapes (CBS) flood resilience project, where BCL is a partner alongside WWT and Richmond Council. She was born on the Gold Coast, Australia and has a BSc in Marine and Environmental Biology with a shared major in Indigenous Knowledge. Shomari has experience in whale monitoring research, wildlife care and working with communities after the 2022 Australian floods.

Alex Tattersall Baker joined BCL in August 2024 as our Learning and Community Engagement Officer on the Community BlueScapes Flood Resilience Project. Alex has worked in education for the previous 9 years which also included two years in Bogotá, Colombia for two years as a teacher. He loves exploring the outdoors and is keen to learn more about the local area.
