Whatever our age or ability, the consistency and plain good fun of regular time spent exploring and enjoying familiar outdoor local spaces offers a wonderful chance to discover, learn, wind down, and simply ‘be’.
Growing Together started quietly in 2015 and today, its raised beds and polytunnel areas are maintained by volunteers and used by school groups, students, teachers and adults. We were delighted to have so many local families and individuals adopting a space to ‘grow their own’ during the lockdowns when we were no longer able to grow together.
Now that we can grow together again, why not come along and volunteer with our Community Growing Project when you have some free time. We host regular volunteer sessions every Saturday from 10am to 12pm. These are great opportunities to make friends, have fun and grow. If you need a snack or a drink, the Feel Good Bakery is open, serving refreshments. If you prefer to pop in when things are a little quieter, then get in touch to find out what tasks you could help us with during the week. There are always plenty of jobs, just remember to mark them as done on the whiteboard.
If you’re interested in learning more about growing, why not come along to one of our interactive sessions. Hosted on every third Saturday of the month, these cover topics from seed collecting to harvesting crops. Find the times and dates in our events calendar.
All volunteers must read our Volunteer Handbook and Risk Assessment (click here for policies) and fill in a personal information sheet before volunteering.
