Our campaign to save our rare acid grassland is live! We are delighted to have fantastic support from our local community, businesses and organisations.
We are very thankful to our friends at the Barnes Community Association who have awarded us a £1500 grant for our acid grassland Big Give campaign. This amount will be match funded, earning us £3000 as the first step towards achieving our goal of £16,000 raised. Our campaign is now live and taking donations for 7 days only – every donation, no matter how big or small, will be doubled until we reach our target!
Barnes Common is home to some of the richest examples of lowland acid grassland in London, providing a home to rare insects and plants. The funds we plan to raise will go towards the restoration of this fragile habitat.
Historically, across the Common much of this habitat has been lost through urban development and succession to scrub and woodland. Acid grassland is a fragile ecosystem and too much human disturbance can destroy it altogether, as can increases in nitrates from pollution and nutrients from dog fouling.
Any donations made via BigGive.org over the course of the next seven days will be matched by a donor, so if we raise £8,000, it will be doubled to £16,000! Please help us reach our goal and donate. One donation – twice the impact.
Our fundraising page is here and will be taking donations from noon on 22 April until noon on 29 April.
