Join us as we host award winning artist Alicia Hayden for a workshop exploring Artivism, and create your own artwork.

Artivism is where an artist communicates science through artistic means, with the aim of inciting change in thought or behaviour.

Coinciding with International Dark Sky Week, this workshop will be an opportunity to discuss the threats to wildlife in our local area and how we can use art to effectively communicate these to others. This 2 hour workshop will be led by Alicia Hayden, an award winning artist, filmmaker, animator, writer and photographer.

Alicia will discuss wildlife art and take participants through some artistic techniques to start, with opportunities for everyone to practice their skills. Artivism will then be introduced as a concept and you will learn about how to use art to communicate scientific messages. The final part of the session will involve creating an artwork based around the concept of Artivism.

All art materials will be provided. This activity is suitable for everyone from beginner to advanced artist. Suitable for ages 11+. Refreshments will be provided. Places are limited, so advance booking is essential.
