Join us for a community event filled with fun activities for everyone!

Thanks to the Mayor’s Community Weekend Grant, we will be hosting an Urban Woodland Craft Fair on Barnes Common on Saturday 24th of June. The fair will showcase the work of local wood crafters and artists, as well as the conservation work of the team at Barnes Common. Our team members will demonstrate the significant benefits of woodlands in an urban setting and how working them is beneficial for the local flora and fauna and ourselves, particularly with regards to wellbeing.

The fair will run from 10am to 4pm and will take place on Barnes Common, on Black Poplar Meadow just off Vine Road, with activities for the whole community. Ellie from Wood Wool Willow will offer small wood craft drop-in sessions and will demonstrate basket weaving, Pole Lather, Ben will demonstrate bowl turning, our resident woodland and river experts Will and Tarun will hosted guided woodland and Beverley Brook walks, Operation Centaur horses will demonstarte log pulling throughout the day and you will be able to purchase small wooden items made from surplus wood from the common, such as coasters and plant labels. After all that activity you'll be needed refreshments, which will be available all day from our food stall.

Fancy volunteering? There will be lots to do on the day and we would love your help - please do get in touch if you are available!

On the same day, join us at our story time nook at the Barnes Children’s Literature Festival and follow a map on a nature trail along the Beverley Brook.

Entry is free but fees apply to some activities. Please book your tickets below so we know how many people to expect.

Please dress appropriately for the weather and wear sturdy footwear.
