Lowther Primary School, SW13 9AE

Join the Community BlueScapes team and take part in activities focused on environment and nature for people of all ages.

We believe that communities have the power to tackle climate change, take on the challenges of extreme weather like flooding and create neighbourhoods that are great for local people and wildlife.

Local people know their area best. The more we work and plan together, the more we can achieve for our residents, our neighbourhoods and our environment.

Come along to our first Climate & Nature Fair at the Lowther Primary School in Barnes. We want to bring together local people of all ages to learn about work being done to prepare the area for the future, share their ideas, take part in family-friendly activities focused on environment and nature, and enjoy free refreshments.

Join us for:

  • Information about the work of the Community BlueScapes project within the Beverley Brook Catchment area (from Richmond Park to north Barnes) and how you can get involved in shaping the future of the area.
  • All-day activities focused on environment and nature, including children’s storytelling, crafts and a nature discovery table.
  • Exploring opportunities to become a citizen scientist.
  • FREE street food and refreshments – as well as prizes and other giveaways on the day

The Climate & Nature Fair is being hosted by Community BlueScapes. This is a project aiming to tackle the issues of flooding and climate change by working with local people, nature, and testing new methods. Community BlueScapes is a local partnership project run by WWT, The Charity for Wetlands and Wildlife, Barnes Common Limited and Richmond Council.

Communities have the power to tackle climate change and make our neighbourhoods better places to live in now. Community BlueScapes is all about giving local people power to prepare for extreme weather events like flooding and restoring a more natural environment.

Community BlueScapes is a partnership between Barnes Common Limited, the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust and London Borough of Richmond upon Thames.

Sign up to the Community BlueScapes mailing list to find out more about Community BlueScapes, how you can get involved and keep up to date with the latest stories, news and events.

Our project is run by Barnes Common Limited, the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust and London Borough of Richmond upon Thames. We have been awarded £6 million of funding by Defra as part of the £200 million Flood and Coastal Innovation Programmes which is managed by the Environment Agency. The programmes will drive innovation in flood and coastal resilience and adaptation to a changing climate.
