Come along on this evening walk and see our veteran trees including Oak, Hazel and others. Learn about deadwood habitats, hazel coppicing, and find out how to manage middle-aged trees so that they will turn into healthy veterans. See where our birds, bats and insects live and learn how you could help them thrive.
Barnes Common is a designated Local Nature Reserve (LNR) and Site of Nature Conservation Interest (SNCI), with varied and valuable habitats including nationally scarce lowland acid grassland, reed-beds, meadows, and secondary woodland.
Join Will Dartnell, BCL's Conservation Manager for an informal walk around the Common, and learn all about managing our woodland. Ask him anything you would like to know about our conservation work on the Common.
This walk is free and everybody is welcome. It takes place outdoors. As such, please dress appropriately for the weather and wear sturdy footwear.
If the weather is warm, you may wish to bring a bottle of water.
We will start and finish the walk at Vine Road Park.
