Hedgehog Highway Extension Day

Hedgehog Highway Extension Day

Barnes, SW13

Help your local hedgehogs and join the highway in Barnes! Connect your garden with a small access hole we can cut for the hedgehogs.

Join the Barnes Hedgehog Highway and help our hedgehogs thrive.  A simple access hole in your fence can open up a whole network of safe routes for hedgehogs moving between our gardens. Book a slot that suits you and the Handyman Station team will create a neat, hedgehog‑sized hole in your wooden fence or brick wall — quick, tidy, and free.

Founded by local resident Michel Birkenwald over a decade ago, Barnes Hedgehogs has connected more than a thousand gardens across Barnes, Mortlake, Putney, Sheen and Richmond. With every new hole, the Highway grows — and so does our local hedgehog population. Neighbours are spotting hedgehogs more often, and the community has truly taken these small mammals under its wing.

The service is free to all, and donations help us keep the project running and expanding. The suggested amount is £20, but every contribution, large or small, supports the Highway’s impact.

Please only book if your property is in one of the following areas. We cover the following areas:

East Sheen SW14, Barnes SW13, Hammersmith W6, Richmond TW9, Twickenham TW1, Putney SW15, Fulham SW10, Wandsworth SW18, Wimbledon SW19, Kew, Chiswick and Chelsea.
