Open Session: Make Your Own Natural Fertilizer(Great Big Green Week)

10:00am, Monday June 10th, 2024

Vine Road Recreation Ground, SW13 0NE

This session is dedicated to swap chemical fertilisers and pesticides for natural alternatives - make yours to take home!

Join us at the Community Growing Project on Monday 10th June as we celebrate Great Big Green Week!

Make and take home your own natural fertilizer and pest repellent! During this session, we will be looking at how to swap chemicals for natural alternatives in the garden. Find out how to make a nutritious fertiliser out of nettles, how to re-purpose your coffee grounds to feed your plants and how to deter pests using a few common store cupboard ingredients. Families are welcome at this activity.

Please bring your own container so you can take home what you made: a spray bottle for the fertilizer and a jar or a water bottle for the natural pest repellent.

Taking part in this activity? Please share your photos on social media, use #GreatBigGreenWeek and #SwapTogether and tag us @barnescommon!

The Great Big Green Week is the UK’s biggest ever celebration of community action to tackle climate change and protect nature. Every year, people come together to unleash a wave of support for action to protect the planet. Tens of thousands of people in every corner of the country celebrate the heartfelt, brave, everyday actions being taken to stand up for nature and fight climate change. In 2024, Great Big Green Week will take place between 8th and 16th June. The theme for 2024 is swaps – from clothes or book swaps, to skill swaps in allotments or upcycling workshops, to knowledge swaps on discussion panels or wildlife reserves.
