Celebrate winter in all its glory! Explore the winter ecology of Barnes Common through a collection of playful and immersive exercises.
Winter Nature Club is a four-part series of Sunday workshops running through the winter months of November through to February, for 5-9 year olds and their adults.
Each two-hour workshop will celebrate winter in all its glory, offering space and time to appreciate the unique process of change the season brings and find beauty amongst the cold and mud. Each session will consist of outdoor adventures, woven together by creative craft activities which run across all 4 workshops.
Session 3 celebrates Animals:
What do animals eat over winter? Where do the summer birds go? Why do some animals go into the ground? What does it feel like to hibernate?
Whilst some animals decide to fly to warmer places, some choose to sleep through the colder months, and others stay and make use of the opportunities winter brings. Through a series of playful exercises we will use our imagination and sharpen our senses to step into the paws, talons and furry insect shoes of our animal neighbours as they live through the season of winter.
Children must be accompanied at all times. Maximum 3 children per adult for this activity. Sign up for all 4 sessions to receive a free loyalty gift each session!
