Workshop: Plants for free

10:00am, Saturday April 19th, 2025

The Polytunnel at Vine Road Recreation Ground, SW13 0NE

There are lots of different propagation methods, and it’s easy to get lots more plants without spending any money at all!

These days, we tend to see plants and seeds as something we buy, rather than something we grow. Seed and plant production has been commercialised, and plants can be costly. However, plants we have raised ourselves, that are adapted to local conditions, are often more successful than those we buy. There are lots of different propagation methods, and it’s easy to get lots more plants without spending any money at all! In this workshop, we will cover seed sowing, seed saving, taking cuttings, layering, dividing and more!

All workshops will run on the 3rd Saturday of the month unless otherwise stated. The workshops will run from 10 – 11am, and you are welcome to stay afterwards to chat, look around the growing area and ask the workshop leader any questions. If you attend the training, you will also receive an emailed resource sheet afterwards with links to websites, videos and books you might want to use.

This workshop will take place in the polytunnel in our growing area at Vine Road Rec. Hot drinks can be purchased from the Vine Road Community Café in the Pavilion with a 50% discount for attendees.

Please note, dogs will not be admitted at this event except guide dogs. All our events are dog free unless specifically mentioned in the event listing.
