The Vine Road Community Café has been a welcome weekend addition to the park for a year now, come rain or shine since returning in September last year. Open 8am to 2pm every Saturday and Sunday in the pavilion. This pop up café is a fantastic trial to gain ideas and feedback for what we could and should include within the Vine Road Project.
During August, when our office was quieter, John tested opening on a few weekday afternoons to see what the take up would be. The results were useful, interesting and proved very variable on an up and down summer for weather.
The café was open all day for our Autumn Fayre, serving their usual selection of hot and cold drinks and sweet and savoury snacks and their ever popular themed gingerbread shapes. They provided and will continue to provide a 50% discount on hot drinks to everyone who bought tickets to our events. There is also a small discount for those who bring their own cups which helps us avoid single use cup waste.
Fun fact: over the past 12 months, the Community Café sold 1877 gingerbread shapes (persons, bones, ghosts, dogs, santas, teddy bears), all baked and served by John and the Café team.
